Bonding
A damaged tooth can be built up using dental bonding techniques. Bonding is the process of adhering tooth-colored resin materials to the surface of a tooth. A NATURAL-COLOURED FILLING MATERIAL can be used for minor repairs to front teeth like chipped or broken tooth corners.
For larger fractures porcelain crowns and veneers are often the treatment of choice. Veneers are like false finger nails, made to fit the facial surface of the broken tooth and hide the underlying break.
Crowns
Dental CROWNS, also referred to as "dental caps" or "tooth caps," are dental restorations that cover over and encase the tooth on which they are cemented. They are custom made for each patient from tooth coloured ceramic. As they encase the entire visible aspect of a tooth, a dental crown in effect becomes the tooth's new outer surface.
Crowns are made for teeth that have broken, worn excessively, or have had large portions destroyed by tooth decay. They are used on large filling areas, where a tooth has been subject to a fracture or after a root canal treatment. Crowns can also change the look of teeth that are awkwardly shaped or discoloured.
